A senior governmental delegation from Vietnam visited IDC Herzliya in July 2019. The 18-strong delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), and Head of the PCC Organization Commission. Mr. Chinh was accompanied by senior party members, as well as H.E. Do Minh Hung, Ambassador of Vietnam to the State of Israel, and H.E. Nadav Eshcar, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Vietnam.
Following the request of the late H.E. Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel, after an official visit to Vietnam in 2012, IDC Herzliya under the leadership of Prof. Uriel Reichman, president and founder, and Prof. Boaz Ganor, Dean of the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, developed a unique academic program for Vietnamese high-level government officials in Israel, as part of an overall “Vietnam – Israel engagement plan”. The training program involved courses on public administration, e-government, Israel as a start-up nation, communications and new digital media, cyber security, and decision making in government.
It is against this background that Mr. Chinh, in charge of training the next generation of leaders in his country, met with Prof. Reichman and Prof. Boaz Ganor to discuss long-term training programs in the fields of Government as well as Sustainability. Prof. Yoav Yair, Dean of the School of Sustainability, Founded by Israel Corp., ICL & ORL was also at the meeting.
IDC Herzliya will continue to work with the Vietnam government and strengthen existing ties, sparked by the late Shimon Peres.
